The private jet belonging to the one and only Elvis Presley is reportedly going on sale in the near future. If you’re an Elvis fan, this would be the perfect piece of memorabilia to remember the King. Just imagine for a second, arriving in Las Vegas in Elvis Presley’s private jet? Is there a cooler way to arrive in Sin City? We certainly can’t think of one.
Elvis Presley Private Plane on Auction
Now, obviously, no private plane ever comes cheap, especially when it belonged to such a legendary singer. Presley’s jet will be going on auction on Saturday the 27th of May, and potential buyers will need to have seriously deep pockets to afford the plane. It is expected that it could sell for between $2 and $3.5 million, but there is a chance it could go even higher. The plane itself is a Lockheed Jetstar from 1962, which had many custom features installed on it.
Elvis Presley was the star attraction in Las Vegas from 1969 until 1976, and his image has become entwined with Las Vegas. The jet itself has been gathering dust on a runway in New Mexico for the last 30 years.
Elvis’ Jet in Disrepair
Unfortunately, any potential buyer will also need to fork out some serious money to restore the plane. It hasn’t moved in 30 years and is looking less than its best. Many of the custom furnishings inside the plane will need to be repaired, including the red velvet seats, shag carpet and woodwork.
In addition to this, the plane is also missing its engines so serious work will be needed to make it fly again, if it even can. Still, even if it never flies again, this will still be a perfect item to restore and put on display for Elvis fans to visit from all over the world.
It will be very interesting to see how much his plane eventually sells for at auction.
